Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Coordinates new in-house design and development of projects for mining vehicles.
Communicates with Sales and Manufacturing departments as well as customers and vendors.
Develops CAD models of weldments, assemblies and components with detailed drawings for optional and improved components and assemblies used on the mining vehicles.
Reviews customer and mine requirements, and evaluates and recommends design parameters to new and existing products for mining vehicles. This will include occasional mine and site visits.
Implements design changes and engineering changes for mining vehicle products.
Issues procedures and work instructions for new processes and options being installed on the mining vehicles.
Installs and improves optional equipment for the mining vehicles; involves investigating equipment, tools, fixtures and procedures.
Maintains contact with the German engineering department on developments regarding mining vehicles and assists with required regulations pertaining to vehicle compliance to specific mines.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Experience and Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, required.
10 years’ experience designing mining equipment required; or equivalent of education and experience.
MSHA Underground Certification
Basic knowledge of Windows based programs.
Advanced knowledge and experience with 3D, 2D and FEA software packages required.
Travel may be required with very short notice—some being international.
