Elko is a town in Nevada well-known for its gold mining. With several mines nearby, both above and below ground, the mining community is essentially all-encompassing. Each year, the town hosts the Elko Mine Expo at the convention center so the greater mining community across the country can come together to survey mining equipment and other machinery used for both underground and surface mining applications. Loads of mining equipment manufacturers turn up to exhibit their latest and greatest products and check out what others have to offer as well.
This year the expo was held June 7th & 8th and again NPK manned a booth, but this year for the first time as NPK Mining Equipment. The show gave NPK the opportunity to not only display Paus mining vehicles, but also spread the word about the opening of the new Elko branch located right around the corner on Idaho Street. This new facility will not only serve as the home for NPK Mining Equipment, but it will also serve as a full-service NPK Construction Equipment distributor outlet providing sales, rental, spare parts, field service, and support for all NPK and PAUS products.
On display at the booth were two popular Paus underground mining vehicles: a PG10 heavy-duty underground grader and a MinCa 5.1 utility vehicle. As is customary for the line of Paus mining vehicles, both the PG10 grader and the MinCa 5.1 are highly customizable and available with multiple configurations. The MinCa on display at the show was a two-man configuration equipped with a service deck in the rear. Optional attachments for the service deck include: welder, compressor, cable winch, crane, and/or other attachments upon request.
With the new facility being right around the corner, show attendees were also invited to stop by and check out a pair of Paus mine-duty personnel carriers on display in the parking lot. The smaller MinCa 5.1 is great for smaller crews as it seats up to five, while the MinCa 18 is suited for larger crews as it seats 12 - 18 depending on configuration. Both vehicles boast a hydrostatic drive, an innovative suspension, shock absorbers and oscillating axles which results in superior driving comfort even in the most rugged of environments.
Visitors to both the booth and the shop were excited to check out the vehicles which are relatively new to the American mining market, often climbing inside to scrutinize the interior and the controls. NPK staff manning both locations were happy to talk with visitors and answer any questions they had about the Paus vehicle line, the new Elko facility, and NPK in general. Staff and visitors alike had an enjoyable time, and the show was a great success!
